In producing grape cultivars for leaders of the wine, grape juice and raisins markets bears testimony to our adherence to strict organic principles. We committed to sustaining the health of the soil, ecosystem and people. The grape production units on the Blocuso farm are developed with different grape cultivars:
- 18ha Villard Blanc (Block A and B) – Wine & Juice
- 9.9ha Merbein Seedless (Block C and D) – Raisins
- 7.14ha Merbein Seedless (Block E) – Raisins
- 5.1ha Chenin Blanc (Block F, 2015/16 development) – Wine, planted October 2015
- 2016/17 Development: Block G – 9.03ha Colombar cultivar for wine, planted past October 2016
Currently 27.9ha grapes are productive and harvested with the following volumes:
- 2012 – 165 tons
- 2013 – 403 tons
- 2014 – 589 tons
- January – March 2015: 18ha Villard Blanc, 625.062 tons for wine & juice
- January – March 2015: 9.9ha Merbein Seedless (first harvest): 72.003 tons for juice; 17.50 tons of raisins
Our Market 2016 Harvesting Season (January – March 2016)
- 18 ha Villard Blanc: 623 tons ( Orange River Wine Cellars for wine)
- Merbein seedless; 4ha: 82 tons (Orange River Wine Cellars for juice/wine)
- Merbein seedless; 13 ha: 57 tons (SAD/Pioneer Foods for raisins)
